President’s Blog: July

012For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Chad Bruce, and I’m honored to be the new Flight President. I’ve been involved with this fantastic group of young professionals since fall 2013, previously serving as the Co-Vice President of Events.

As we kick-off Flight’s 2015-2016 year, I want to say thank you to our first board, especially our founding Co-Presidents: Mary Lyons and Chrystal Morgan. Mary and Chrystal did an amazing job establishing the board and leading us through the monumental task of creating this YPO in support of Vogel Alcove. I think you’ll agree that Flight’s accomplishments during the organization’s first year-and-a-half are incredibly impressive, which is a testament to the passion of our members and the hard work of everyone on the previous board. Highlights of what Flight members have contributed to the community include:

  • Bringing awareness to Vogel Alcove and the children it serves through events such as Flight for the Alcove (an urban scavenger hunt) and our Gala
  • Raising $88,000 for Vogel Alcove
  • Volunteering approximately 10,000 hours for Vogel Alcove and for other nonprofits

During the next year, I would like to see Flight become the premier young professionals group in DFW. There are many other great YPOs, but Flight provides members the unique opportunity to develop the tools and experience necessary to become leaders professionally, personally, and in the community. I’ve met an amazing group of inspirational individuals through my time in Flight, and I look forward to continuing to work together to help this organization grow.

Whether you’ve been a member since the beginning or are learning about Flight for the first time, I hope to see each of you at our many upcoming events. For a calendar and more information, be sure to visit FlightYPO.org. Here’s to another great year of Flight!

Chad
